Bill’s Advancing to Limit ‘Border’ Polygraph Test

The confluence of a manpower shortage at the border and a high polygraph-test failure rate for applicants for Federal Border Patrol Agent jobs has prompted a bipartisan push in Congress to exempt active-duty law-enforcement employees, military and veterans from the test.

Earlier this year, the Associated Press reported that two out of every three CBP applicants had failed the mandatory polygraph. That is more than twice the failure rate at the eight law-enforcement agencies that the AP surveyed.
