The Department of Education announced the highest number of art Teachers the city has employed in 12 years, thanks to additional funding for arts education.
In the 2016-2017 school year, 2,770 art Teachers worked in city schools, up 377 from the 2013-2014 school year. The city increased funding for arts education by $17 million this past school year, bringing the total to $416 million.
