The head of the Vulcan Society of African-American Firefighters Aug. 16 blasted the Fire Department's decision to return Firefighter Joseph Cassano to duty after his 30-day suspension for being arrested for criminal trespass in a Jersey Shore community.
Mr. Cassano, the son of former Commissioner Sal Cassano, has been a lightning rod for controversy since his 2013 resignation as a member of the Emergency Medical Service after anti-Semitic and racist tweets of his surfaced.
