A few days before the Emergency Medical Service officers’ union headed into contract negotiations last week, the five members of President Vincent Variale’s slate April 29 won a six-candidate election to sweep the seats on the executive board. One independent challenger did not earn enough votes to win.
Of the 456 ballots mailed out, about 40 percent were returned, Mr. Variale said in a phone interview. He represents EMS Captains and Lieutenants in Local 3621.
