Unions Rally to Force Insurer to Reimburse Life-Saving Cardiologist

Several public-sector unions are rallying behind Dr. Perry Frankel, a cardiologist whose mobile testing services flagged undetected heart conditions in their members but now can’t get reimbursed by Aetna, a major city health-insurance carrier.

Subway-Surface Supervisors Association President Mike Carrube said the deployment of Dr. Frankel’s mobile diagnostic unit at New York City Transit worksites for over a year and a half made a life-or-death difference for some of his members who were totally unaware of looming cardiology issues.
