Unions Happy With Mayor’s Goals On Affordable Housing, Minimum Wage

City union leaders praised Mayor de Blasio for a number of proposals contained in his Feb. 3 State of the City speech that included hiring more Building Inspectors, raising the city’s minimum wage and expanding bus and ferry options.

But, speaking in a packed auditorium at Baruch College, the Mayor spent most of the time sketching a plan to rezone a half-dozen city neighborhoods to mandate low-income units while encouraging private developers to build taller, denser projects.
