“This isn’t a tax plan. This is a war,” said Barbara Bowen, president of the Professional Staff Congress, at a Dec. 19 rally outside the Stock Exchange. “A war on working people, sick people, young people, people of color, New York City, New York State, the environment and everyone except the people who make money right behind us.”
PSC, the City University of New York’s largest union, alongside members of the New York State Nurses Association, District Council 37 and other labor groups, made one last push against the proposed tax reforms before they were passed in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
