Following critical press coverage of Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and his allies in the chamber, more than 30 labor leaders last week signed a statement of support for him.
The two-paragraph statement, sent by the office of Mario Cilento, the president of the New York State AFL-CIO, praised the Bronx Democrat and his “leadership team” for “advancing the real priorities of hardworking New Yorkers.”
