The state Court of Appeals has overturned lower-court rulings and upheld the firings of three Teachers, including one who was charged with helping students cheat on a state exam and another who reportedly asked students to arrange dates with their older sisters.
After three students testified that Ericka Bolt, a fifth-grade Teacher in the Bronx, told several students their answers were wrong while she proctored a state English exam in 2011, an arbitrator fired her for the misconduct in 2014, ruling that her actions demonstrated “a lack of integrity.”
