Much to the chagrin of Teachers’ unions across the nation, the U.S. Senate confirmed Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education, although she needed Vice President Pence to cast an unprecedented tie-breaker vote for a Cabinet nominee to squeak through.
The vote took place shortly past noon on Feb. 7, after an all-night session held by the Democrats in an attempt to persuade a third Republican Senator to vote against Ms. DeVos.
