Teachers’ unions objected to a bill introduced last week by Governor Cuomo that would give tax breaks to parents who send children to religious and private schools, as well as those who donate to them. United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew, referring to previous education tax credits advanced by the Governor, called it “lipstick on a pig.”
