The United Federation of Teachers has ratified a two-year contract for 800 nurses who work for the troubled Visiting Nurse Service of New York that includes increased management health-care contributions and wage increases.
The union has represented nurses at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, who conduct home- and community-based visits for 142,000 patients, since 1982. The contract, which runs to Jan. 31, 2020, provides a wage increase of 1.75 percent July 1 and a 2-percent raise on April 1, 2019.
