The impact from President Trump’s prolonged Federal Government shutdown continues to be felt across the nation, as the families of 800,000 of Federal employees grappled with the hardship caused by a missed paycheck Jan. 11.
As the shutdown, prompted by Mr. Trump’s $5.7-billion demand to fund a wall along the border with Mexico, reached a record 24th day Jan. 14, as this newspaper went to press, leading economists that the longer the impasse continued, the more damage would be done to the national economy.
