When New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced her lawsuit Aug. 20 opposing President Trump’s plan to penalize immigrants for using food stamps or health-care services by making them ineligible for green cards, a big part of the crowd cheering her on were members of Service Employees International Union Local 1199, the nation’s largest health-care union.
