As part of its contract with the United Federation of Teachers announced Oct. 11, the de Blasio administration announced a plan to attract and retain Teachers in schools predominantly in The Bronx with high turnover rates, as well as modifications to hiring processes and Teacher evaluations.
“What we are doing with this agreement is lifting up 1.1 million students and 130,000 educators,” the Mayor said at a City Hall press conference alongside Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza and UFT President Michael Mulgrew. “This was not just about a fair agreement for hard-working people but it was about making the schools better.”
