As transit supervisors gear up for raises under a new contract ratified Jan. 16 by Transport Workers Union Local 106, a few of the local’s members will have to wait a bit longer for their pay boost to be implemented.
Those in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority division known as MTA Bus are not covered by that deal. But some are feeling no anxiety about their exclusion from the pact, which covers those working for New York City Transit and the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority. They’re still enjoying the substantial back pay they received in December—which to at least one Dispatcher’s family literally meant the difference between house and home.
