The head of the union representing school-bus drivers and escorts was joined by two top labor officials March 13 in urging Governor Cuomo to restore the Employee Protection Provision governing those workers’ compensation and job rights as part of the state budget that’s due to take effect April 1.
In making that appeal, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181 President Michael Cordiello, State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento and Peter Ward, the president of the Hotel Trades Council, called on the Governor to revive the protection that then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg eliminated in late 2012.
