As the strike against Charter Communications/Spectrum passed the 19-month mark, Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO, urged U.S. Senate candidates to join other elected officials who have canceled debates scheduled to air on the cable network.
In a statement Oct. 19, Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand announced she would not participate in a debate scheduled for two nights later unless the strike was settled.
