Dozens of members of the Subway Surface Supervisors Association say they lost key civil-service rights and a chance to earn tens of thousands of dollars in annual overtime following the 2015 closing of New York City Transit’s East Harlem Bus Depot.
As a result of an arbitration just before the shutdown, SSSA members came under the jurisdiction of NYC Transit’s non-civil-service subsidiary, the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transportation Operating Authority (MaBSTOA), which operates the Mother Clara Hale Bus Depot at 721 Malcolm X Blvd. in East Harlem.
