The Board of Certification this month provided another setback to efforts by the Health and Hospitals Corporation Police Benevolent Association to poach Special Officers represented by Teamsters Local 237.
The HHC PBA—which is also known as the NYC Hospital Police PBA—filed a claim to represent the officers last September, arguing that the title should be split from their local because they perform “police-like functions” in city hospitals and that because they have the power of arrest, there are conflicts-of-interest with other titles in their bargaining units.
