Slain Cop's Widow Can't Halt Parole, Judge Says

An upstate judge ruled April 20 that the widow of a slain police officer had no legal standing to challenge a decision granting one of his killers parole, bringing condemnation from both the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association and the NYPD.

Even if Diane Piagentini had standing to sue, State Supreme Court Justice Richard Koweek wrote, he would have allowed the decision releasing Herman Bell to stand.
