With a big push from labor, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1056 President I. Daneek Miller this month bested a field of five other Democratic candidates in a tight race to take the southeast Queens 27th District City Council seat being vacated by Leroy Comrie, who is facing term limits.
Mr. Miller easily outshined the Queens Democratic Party favorite, Manuel Caughman, and has no Republican opponent in the general election.
