For the first time since 9/11, a father and son who were both members of the Fire Department have died due to contracting World Trade Center response-related cancers.
On Aug. 17, retired Firefighter Robert Alexander, 43, died from brain cancer. On Nov. 21, 2016, retired FDNY Lieut. Ray Alexander died from 9/11-related cancers. The 40-year FDNY veteran was 76.
