School Staff Found Blameless in Death Of Autistic Student

An internal probe found “no misconduct” on the part of any school employee in the classroom choking death of a 21-year-old autistic student last October.

The July 6 report by the Department of Education’s Special Commissioner of Investigation couldn’t confirm reports that Dyasha Phelps Smith choked while eating a muffin taken from an unlocked closet at the Star Academy at P.S. 368 in Brooklyn.
