Less than four weeks after Governor Cuomo gave him the authority to investigate deaths of unarmed people at the hands of police, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman took on his first case.
Mr. Schneiderman issued a terse one-sentence anĀnounceĀment Aug. 3 that he would act as special prosecutor in the death of Raynette Turner, 42, on July 27 in a cell at the Mount Vernon Police Department. He said he was acting under an executive order issued July 8 by the Governor.
