The president of the Sergeants’ Benevolent Association has joined other law-enforcement officials in asking Google to deactivate a feature on a traffic app that allows users to report the locations of police officers, fearing it could be used to target them for assassination.
Ismaaiyl Brinsley, who shot to death Police Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in their patrol car on Dec. 20, had the Waze app on his cell phone, Edward D. Mullins said in an interview with THE CHIEF-LEADER. Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck made the same complaint shortly after the shooting.
