More than 2,800 first-responders have been certified as having Sept. 11-related cancer as of July 8, according to World Trade Center Health Program statistics.
But according to doctors and advocates in the field, not too much should be read into the seemingly-sudden jump in cases first reported by the New York Post last week. The tally rose from 1,140 last year and was reported by the Post as 2,518 cases.
