The Housing Authority tapped recently retired NYPD Assistant Chief Gerald Nelson to serve as its Vice President for Public Safety, the agency said last week.
The 41-year veteran took on the role Aug. 3 and will be responsible for managing the agency’s law-enforcement, criminal-investigation, fire-suppression, code-enforcement, rescue and emergency services, according to a memo sent to staff by General Manager Michael Kelly.
