The Fire Department 9/11-related death toll continued to mount with the passing last month of retired Firefighter James Lanza, 71. So far this year, six firefighters have succumbed to 9/11-related illnesses.
According to the Uniformed Firefighters Association, 128 firefighters and fire officers have died from 9/11-related illnesses. Three hundred forty-three FDNY employees died in the attack.
