Public-Employee Unions Use Get-Out-the-Vote Drive to Help Clinton

As this newspaper went to press Nov. 7, public-employee unions both here and throughout the nation were mobilizing to elect Hillary Clinton President, with top union officials contending that a Donald Trump victory would be disastrous for working people.

In the closing days of the campaign, they marshaled their efforts in battleground states where polls indicated the races were tightest. District Council 37 sent hundreds of its workers to Pennsylvania this past weekend to firm up support for Ms. Clinton, in what a union spokesman said was—along with a smaller effort on behalf of Democratic candidates for some down-ballot races in Long Island—the union’s primary initiative, given her big lead in the polls over Mr. Trump in New York.
