A Harlem preschool was shut down after a three-year-old boy with a dairy allergy died when he was served a grilled cheese sandwich there.
Elijah Silvera was fed the sandwich at Seventh Avenue Center for Family Services despite the fact that the school was informed that he had a severe dairy allergy, according to the boy’s family. He was taken to Harlem Hospital Nov. 3 after he went into anaphylactic shock, where he died.
