With the swearing-in of the new Congress in January, a longtime champion of the Federal workforce is slated to become Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which has sweeping jurisdiction that covers every aspect of government operations.
Rep. Elijah Cummings, 67, was first elected to Congress in 1996 after serving several terms in the Maryland House of Delegates. He has close to 20 years’ experience on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
