A rookie Correction Officer was arrested Feb. 2 on charges of trying to smuggle synthetic marijuana, known as K2, into a Rikers Island jail, the Department of Investigation announced the following day.
Following a tip, DOI positioned its drug-sniffing dog, Gunner, at the front gate of the Anna M. Kross Center, part of a heightened screening run by the Department of Correction during the 3 p.m. shift change.
