In an announcement that raises the pressure on contract mediation for two major unions, the U.S. Postal Service Aug. 10 posted its first operational loss in nearly two years.
The USPS announced it was $586 million in the red during the quarter ending June 30, which includes an operational loss—$197 million—on costs it can control.
