Port Authority PBA Sues Over Search Of Probie Cellphones

The Port Authority Police Benevolent Association sued the Authority last week charging that agency investigators looking into a disturbance at a bar had unconstitutionally searched the cellphones of between 20 and 40 probationary police officers.

“Police officers have constitutionally-protected rights to privacy in the context of their personal cell phones just like the rest of us,” civil-rights lawyer Richard Emery said in a statement. (Mr. Emery is also Chair of the Civilian Complaint Review Board.)
