Citing marijuana’s potential as a gateway drug, its impact on traffic safety and other factors, a coalition of law-enforcement unions in New York State has come out against legalization.
In a statement, the New York State Association of PBAs, an umbrella organization representing 45 police unions, said it opposed legislation that would legalize the drug based on “the risks and dangers” to its members.
