NYPD Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna will contribute out of his own pocket to a $332,500 settlement the city reached with six Occupy Wall Street demonstrators he doused with pepper spray in September 2011 although they were behaving peacefully, a well-placed city source said last week.
A video of the incident—in which Mr. Bologna walked up to a group of protesters standing calmly within orange police containment netting, let loose and then walked away—went viral. Various versions were viewed more than a million times. The most-frequently-seen one is at http://goo.gl/YG4Uzq.
