The American Federation of Government Employees, the country’s largest Federal-employee union, appears to have corralled the Pentagon into negotiations after it filed a complaint that the Department of Defense was embarking on a makeover of its massive information-technology systems without consultation.
The AFGE win, first reported earlier this month by the Federal News Service, means that the DOD transfer of 1,200 IT workers from more than a dozen other agencies within the Pentagon to the Defense Information Systems Agency will be subject to discussions with the union.
