The Police Department has launched a course that teaches crime-scene investigation tactics to Child Protective Specialists at the Administration for Children’s Services as part of an ongoing effort to increase collaboration between the two agencies.
The two-week Criminal Investigator’s course, which is offered 10 times a year, allows Child Protective Specialists to learn investigative tactics that can be used during child-abuse probes. The class offered topics not covered in ACS training, such as how to respond to a crime scene, how to treat evidence and the role of the Medical Examiner at the scene.
