An NYPD Police Officer with less than nine months on the force was killed in a head-on crash with a Parks Department garbage-collection truck in the Bronx on Jan. 16, just after finishing his shift.
Officer Brian Kessler, 28, was northbound on Shore Road when his vehicle collided with the garbage truck about 8:20 a.m., NYPD Assistant Chief Larry W. Nikunen said at a press conference at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where the officer was taken following the crash on the two-lane road through Pelham Bay Park.
