The Office of Inspector General for the NYPD issued a report last week that found problems in the department’s reporting on uses of force by officers.
The Police Department implemented new reporting policies in 2016, a year after the Inspector General, who is part of the Department of Investigation, found that “the department was unable to identify and track such incidents,” according to last week’s report.
