NYCHA Has Plans To Save $4.6B, But Is That Enough?

The New York City Housing Authority has expanded a program aimed at saving more than $4 billion by decentralizing management—but it isn’t enough, according to a report from the Citizens Budget Commission.

The program, NextGeneration NYCHA, was implemented two years ago with a goal of reducing the agency’s capital needs by $4.6 billion and creating an operating surplus of over $230 million over 10 years.
