New York Legislators OK Bill Allowing State To Issue Trump ‘Taxes’

The State Legislature has passed a bill that, if signed into law by Governor Cuomo as expected, would authorize the state Department of Taxation and Finance to share tax-return information with any of three congressional committees that have the power to request it.

Known as the TRUST Act, the legislation, while not explicitly aimed at President Trump’s continued refusal to provide his Federal tax returns to Congress in a defiance of a subpoena, is written in such a way as to accomplish that purpose without running into the prohibition of any measure that works to the benefit or detriment of a single individual.
