A first-grader was a few minutes late on the first day of school Sept. 7. She stood outside the classroom, clinging to her mother, and began crying. Regine Lawson, her Teacher, knelt to comfort her.
“You want to know something?” she told the girl. “This is my first day, too. I was really nervous, but everyone’s been so nice and made me feel so comfortable. And we’re going to do the same for you,” she said before taking the child downstairs.
