In his first week as Schools Chancellor, Richard Carranza sent a message to parents, educators and students that though he was dedicated to the Mayor’s core education initiatives, he would take a stronger approach than the de Blasio administration had previously to solve issues such as school segregation.
Mayor de Blasio and Mr. Carranza spoke April 3—the Schools Chancellor’s second day on the job—at a professional development event for science, technology, math and engineering Teachers in Stuyvesant High School’s packed auditorium.
