During the evening hours of June 1 New York City was hit hard by what the Daily News described as "unchecked looting" in the aftermath of largely peaceful protests of the death of George Floyd at the knee of a white Minneapolis cop a week earlier.
The crime spree hit luxury brands like Chanel, Apple and Rolex, as well as places like Macy's in Herald Square and drug-store chains like Duane Reade.
