Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña Jan. 29 began filling out her leadership team, promoting Dorita Gibson to the role of Senior Deputy Chancellor and second-in-command and naming Brooklyn Principal Phil Weinberg her Deputy Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, a position eliminated under the Bloomberg administration.
Ms. Gibson served as Deputy Chancellor for Equity and Access under former Department of Education head Dennis Walcott, overseeing District 79 (which serves alternative and over-age schools).
