The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will receive a Federal grant worth more than $787 million for Hurricane Sandy repairs and protection against future storms, U.S. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer announced Feb. 10.
The funds will be issued by the Federal Transit Administration, which has now contributed $5.3 billion for Sandy recovery and “resiliency” work. Other support has come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for bridge and tunnel work.
