Mockery Aside, New Police Training Aims To Defuse Conflict

“If somebody gets in your face and calls you a c---s-----, I want you to be nice. Ask him to walk. Be nice. If he won’t walk, walk him. But be nice. If you can’t walk him, one of the others will help you, and you’ll both be nice.” 

This advice, which the late Patrick Swayze spoke as an instruction to bouncers in the 1989 movie “Road House,” is part of the three-day NYPD course aimed at avoiding future Eric Garner situations.
