Mayor de Blasio and U.S. Housing Secretary Ben Carson announced June 18 that Gregory Russ, CEO of the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, will become Chair of the embattled city Housing Authority.
The choice almost immediately spurred criticism after it was learned that the incoming Chair will receive a $402,628 salary, more than the Mayor, Governor Cuomo or President Trump earn. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will contribute $161,900 each year, with Mr. Russ starting in August.
